Laramie Wyoming, May 2018

No trip to Laramie, Wyoming is complete without a visit to the Territorial Prison Museum. I had passed it numerous times, and finally stopped! It is a large complex with various buildings. Of most interest was the notion that incarceration for life did not exist. Food was scarce and hard to come by in the 1800’s. Everything had to be grown or slaughtered or purchased. Feeding criminals for years-on-end did not match the mores of the time. Even murderers were only held for a few years.
